Tommy to put his materials in his sewing room and start
lunch. As Tommy cooked, he heard the unmistakable sounds
of Rinnie giving a blowjob, and he felt unaccountably lonely.
Pol sauntered in a little later and put the credit card receipt
under a fridge magnet.
"Better get an A, boy. B means you owe me this much
back, and a C or lower well "
Tommy gave the frying bacon for their BLTs a poke. "Yes,
Dr. Rnne. I'm sorry it was so expensive, but "
"Hush, boy. I don't mind paying for quality so long as
that's what's delivered."

Tommy nodded. The stakes had been raised, but he'd been
a straight-A student in this program so far. The capstone
project was really tough, though. He had to design and make
three costumes. Two had to be as if he were working for a
regional opera production of Madame Butterfly. "Conservative
and traditional" read the assignment sheet. "Nothing
experimental. Cio-Cio San in a kimono and Pinkerton in Naval
whites. Make them easy to perform in." Tommy had been
disappointed, but appreciated that much of his professional
work was likely to be for regional companies doing standard
productions for conservative audiences. It would be hard to
do for him his imagination wanted to run wild and have
Pinkerton as a modern Marine and Cio-Cio San as a Lolita
Goth. His third costume was a free choice any pre-existing
stage show and any character. Tommy had gleefully pondered
that for some time before coming back to his first inspiration:
the imaginary film star from Kiss of the Spider Woman. He
knew he'd ace that.
Rinnie came in, all smiles, and gave Pol a friendly hip
bump on his way to help Tommy. Tommy felt that loneliness
wash over him again.
He loved Rinnie, but sometimes, sometimes Rinnie made
him so mad. How could he be so calm in the face of leaving
Pol? Didn't he know what and who he had? Next to Dr. Fell,
Tommy couldn't think of anyone he'd rather be owned by. But
he'd be damned if he'd claim Pol after Rinnie left permanently
for Peru. His pride wouldn't let him be second choice, and
he'd learned a lesson with Dr. Fell: grieving doms are bad
news. Pol said if he was good through the end of his

certificate program, he and Rinnie could go to the cabin
retreat this year before Rinnie flew home for the summer. He
was curious to meet the famous Dave who'd won Dr. Fell's
grinchy heart.
Rinnie would always give him a level look and say:
"Tommy, I has two more years yet with Sir. Why spoil them?
And Pol says not to worry, so I listen to him and don't. You
fret too much."
Fret, muttered Tommy, remembering that. Stupid
vocabulary lessons. Then he giggled as he recalled Rinnie
calling him a fritter and prompting that lesson.
He looked round the table cautiously. Pol was reading the
paper and Rinnie was doing some homework.
"Sir, may I work on my project this afternoon after I clean
the kitchen?
"You may."
"Um, sir?"
"Yes?"
"May I measure you? I have to make sure Pinkerton's
uniform sits right on a man in motion and not just on a
mannequin. Rinnie is too short."
Pol pondered. "Just in private?"
Tommy cursed under his breath. Pol always thought
ahead. "Uh."
Pol put the paper down and stared.
"Well, Dr Rnne, there will be a senior show with models.
But it doesn't have to be you. I just need "
"Boy! If you make to my measurements then I assume it
will fit me best. I doubt you are going to alter it later."

Tommy squirmed.
"Who is your Cio-Cio?"
Tommy pointed mutely at Rinnie. Using a male Butterfly as
a model was his little jab at the conservative assignment. His
teacher knew him all too well and was pushing at his
weaknesses with this assignment. But it was the costume
being judged, not the model. And, he thought sadly, making
Pol and Rinnie dress as the tragic pair might shake them up.
They were both being so fucking calm about their relationship
having an expiration date.
"You ask me?" snapped Rinnie. "I don't do girl clothes. Not
like you." He paused and then muttered his version of
Tommy's drag name, "Miss Cast!"
"Hush, Rinaldo! I have not said 'yes' or 'no' yet."
Tommy and Rinnie gawped at Pol, equally amazed.
"I need to think about this," said Pol. "Tommy, you can
start your designs without a specific size in mind, correct?"
"Yes, sir."
"Then do so. I will consider whether Rinaldo and I will be
your models."
"Yes, Dr. Rnne. Thank you, sir." [ Pobierz całość w formacie PDF ]
